Dimensioning the distance between two objects
You can dimension the distance between:
- Two control points.
- A control point and a line or an axis.
- Two parallel lines or axes.
- An arc, a circle or a fillet and another object — an arc, a circle, a fillet, a control point, a line or an axis.
To dimension the distance between two objects
- Do any of the following:
- On the Dimensions toolbar, click Associative Dimension
.
- On the Dimension menu, click Two Objects.
- Click consecutively the two objects.
A sample image of the dimension line appears that follows the pointer.
- (Optional) To make the dimension-line text centered, ensure that Centered Text
is pressed in.
- Move the pointer to where want to position the dimension line, and then click.
NOTE: If there are several positioning choices, press CTRL to switch between them. For example, when you are dimensioning the distance between a circle and a line, you can dimension the distance between the point and the farthest or the nearest point of the circumference. Pressing and releasing CTRL shows you the options.
