Drawing two-objects-tangent circle
You can construct a circle that is tangent to two other objects. You define the circle by the points of tangency with the two objects, the center point of the circle, the diameter of the circle.
NOTE: The contextual edit bars, attributes and tabular presentation, as well as the procedures for modifying and repositioning of a circle are the same for all circle-drawing modes.
Control points
A circle defined by tangency to two objects has two control points: the point of tangency with the first-clicked tangent geometric object (belonging to the circumference), and the center point. While you are drawing a two objects tangent circle, the following cursors for object drawing appear:
About to draw the first tangent point of the circle — this is the point of tangency to the first tangent object.
About to draw the second point of the circle — this is the point of tangency to the second tangent object.
About to draw the third point of the circle.
To draw a two-objects-tangent circle
- Do any of the following:
- On the , click Two Objects Tangent Circle .
- On the Objects menu, point to Circles, and then click Two Objects Tangent Circle.
- Press CTRL+D+C+2.
- In the graphical area, click to draw the first tangent point of the circle. (Click a point that belongs to the first object to which you want your circle to be tangent.)
- In the graphical area, click to draw the second tangent point of the circle. (Click a point that belongs to the second object to which you want your circle to be tangent.)
- To finish the circle, do one of the following:
- Snap the third point of the circle to another object or point.
- Drag the preview of the circle to where you want it to be, and then click to position the third point. NOTE: During the dragging the program detects the relations with other objects you pass through, which enables you to draw a circle that is tangent to three objects. If there are several tangencies, press CTRL to switch between them.
- In the contextual edit bar, in Diameter enter a value, and then press ENTER. Package Designer offers the possible tangency solutions in an . Resting the pointer over a choice previews a solution in the actual drawing. To confirm a choice, click it.
