PROCEDURAL STEPS
Open the design Finishing Effects Exercise.ai.
NOTE: The design has two layers: Elephants, which includes the elephant images, and Layer 1, which contains the rest of the artwork.
To make the hand-written inscription Elephant appear in a Pantone color, select the two instances of the inscription in the design.
In the EngViewProcesses panel, in the Swatches panel, click the Pantone 121 C color (yellow).
In the two places where the word appears, it is now in the Pantone 121 C color.
To make the word Elephant appear embossed against the surface of the design, associate the words with an imprint effect (emboss): in the EngViewProcesses panel, click New Process .
A blank record (None selected) appears in the list.
In the EngViewProcesses panel, in the Colors/Layers/EV Drawings column, click and select Pantone 212 C.
In the Process column, click and select the surface process Imprint, and then select Emboss.
The imprint text appears embossed, but is no longer colored. The reason is that only one process, imprint, has been applied to the layer. To make it appear in its applied color, a process that specifies the additional process must be assigned.
In the EngViewProcesses panel, click New Process .
A blank record (None selected) appears in the list.
In the Colors/Layers/EV Drawings column, click and select Pantone 212 C.
In the Process column, click and select the surface process Color Print.
In the EngView3D panel, the text appears in color.
To apply a foil finishing to the elephants in the design and make them shiny, select the two elephants.
In the EngViewProcesses panel, click New Process .
A blank record (None selected) appears in the list.
In the Colors/Layers/EV Drawings column, click, and then select the Elephant.
In the Process column, select Partial Foil Stamping; in the Type column, select Gold Foil.
In the EngView3D panel, the Elephants layer appears in shiny gold color.
