Visual Tutorial: Sheet optimization using the sheet wizard

The sheet wizard is a tool that carries out a cost-benefit analysis of each sheet format you choose for a layout and the number of pieces you want to produce. It shows the number of sheets that will be needed, the layout 1ups per sheet, the total output, the waste area, and the waste area percentage for each sheet format.

In this video we set the sheet size and margins.

PROCEDURAL STEPS

  1. Open the layout drawing.
  2. On the Layout toolbar, click Apply Layout Template to New Sheet .
  3. In the Apply Layout Template to New Sheet dialog box that appears, click Opt. Sheet.
  4. In the Optimal Sheet Selection: Input dialog box that appears, enter the number of pieces you want to produce — in this case: 100,000.
  5. In the list select and add all the sheet formats you want analyzed (in our case: all standard sheet formats in Landscape orientation), and then click Next.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Optimal Sheet Selection: Result dialog box that appears, select the optimal sheet format from the table.
  8. Click Finish, and then click OK.
