On-object-point snapping

With the on-object-point snapping, you can set an on-relation between the control point you are about to position and any of the end points of the reference object.

Possible object/part modes where On Object Point snapping can be used:

All geometric object modes except fillets, chamfers and quick offsets. All modes for manual placement of Layout and Print parts (Place Part and Place Part by Rectangle).

Possible reference objects:

Line segments, arcs, fillets, chamfers, elliptical arcs, Bézier curves.

Circles, ellipses — the control point that you are defining is snapped to the control point that lies on the circumference of the circle or ellipse.

Text, Layout parts and Print/Design parts. These have only one control point, and the control point you are defining is snapped to it.

To use on-object-point snapping

  1. Turn on an object-drawing or a part-placement mode.

note: Depending on whether you want to snap and set the relation for the first point of the current object or for a subsequent control point, either start drawing the object, respectively, placing the part, or go to Step 2.

  1. Do one of the following:
  1. Point to the reference object to highlight it.

When the reference object is highlighted, the control point currently being drawn is snapped to the end point of the reference object that is nearer the pointer. Moving the pointer switches the snapping between the two end points of the reference object.

  1. To confirm the snapping, click the highlighted reference object — in the graphical area the object preview will stay snapped until you finish the definition of the object or placing the part.
