Perpendicular-to snapping

With perpendicular-to snapping you can set a perpendicular relation between the object you are currently drawing and a reference object. After you click the reference object, the current line or axis is snapped perpendicular to the reference object.

You can set a perpendicular relation explicitly either between two lines or axes, or between a line or axis and a circular object (an arc, a circle or a fillet). However, with the perpendicular-to snapping you can set the relation only between two lines or axes.

Possible object modes where perpendicular-to snapping can be used:

Line segments and axes.

Possible reference objects:

Line segments and axes, incl. Oxy axes.

To use perpendicular-to snapping

  1. Turn on a mode for drawing lines or axes, and start drawing the object by positioning its first control point.
  2. Do any of the following:
  1. Point to the reference object to highlight it.

When the reference object is highlighted, the line or axis you are drawing is snapped, making the two lines or axes perpendicular.

  1. Click to confirm the snapping — the preview will stay snapped with respect to the selected snapping until you finish the definition of the object.
