Creating layout from the parts of multipart structures

You can produce a display or a series of the same multipart structures — for examples, displays or furniture — directly after you have decided on its structure and design in 3D. You need only create layouts of its components, send them to a production machine (a cutter, a digital machine), and then assemble the cut components into actual displays.

Where to begin

From the assembled-state 3D drawing

It is natural to begin creating a layout from the assembled state of a structure, as it takes into account which components and how many of them take part in the final product. EngView then uses this information to compute the layout variants. This approach is the preferred one.

From another drawing

You can start also from any other drawing in the project: In that case, on the Layout tab, click New Layout Drawing, and then, in the dialog box that appears, select the Run Display Wizard option. Note that unlike starting from the assembled-state 3D drawing, this technique does not take account of the assembled state and, as a result, requires that you supply your own quantities for each component. This approach involves more effort and calculations.
