Apart from the hard-coded properties of materials, such as thickness, type, grammage, you can now define your own custom properties, which are additional special characteristics of the material.
Adding custom properties to materials mostly serves solutions in which EngView is integrated with other packaging software. In such solutions, materials may require properties that differ from the ones you find in an ordinary EngView installation. Here the material custom properties make possible the matching of materials as they are defined in EngView with materials as defined in external catalogs of materials.
After a custom property has been defined, you can edit it per material type or by specific material: on the Tools menu, click Preferences, navigate to the Materials and Processes node, and there click Materials.
EngView displays a special column in its materials catalog.
NOTE: The material custom properties are applicable also for the Backing catalog. To access the catalog, on the Tools menu, click Preferences, navigate to the Materials and Processes node, and there click Backing Catalog.
