IMPORTANT: This page explains the TextCost() formulas as used for calculating the cost of perfa text used in design frames and cost models.
The calculation of a text in a perfa style is defined as the sum of (1) the costs of the symbols used in the text and (2) the cost of the guide rail that holds the symbols. That is:
Perfa text cost = Cost(SYMBOL 1) + Cost( SYMBOL 2) + ... + Cost( SYMBOL N) + TOTAL RAIL Cost
Details of how the two costs are calculated follow.
Each symbol can have its own price, which is defined in each symbol's drawing by the local parameter Cost (pictured). For example, in the following picture, for the symbol P in the perfa font Standard, the cost for the symbol P is set at 0.26.
Since a perfa font text is mounted in a guide rail, the price of the guide rail also takes part in the calculation of the text. The guide rail price is calculated in the guide rail drawing ({BoundingRect}), by the expression set for the parameter TotalRailCost (pictured). You can define your own formula for the parameter TotalRailCost. For example, in the following perfa font Standard, the formula for the cost of the guide rail is as follows:
