Parallel-to snapping

With parallel-to snapping you can set a parallel relation between the object you are currently drawing and a reference object. After you click the reference object, the current line or axis is snapped to the reference object, making the objects parallel.

Possible object modes where Parallel To snapping can be used:

Line segments and axes.

Possible reference objects:

Line segments and axes, incl. the coordinate axes.

note: Using parallel-to snapping on collinear lines sets a collinear relation, not a parallel one.

To use parallel-to snapping

  1. Turn on a mode for drawing lines or axes, and begin drawing the object by placing its first control point.
  2. Do one of the following:
  1. Point to the reference object to highlight it.

When the reference object is highlighted, the line or axis you are drawing is snapped so that the two lines or axes become parallel to each other.

  1. Click the reference object to confirm the current snapping solution   the line or axis preview will stay snapped until you finish the definition of the object.
